My work experience has been quite varied and has afforded me an opportunity to become aquainted with all facets of running a business.

FINANCE AND SYSTEMS MANAGER
  • performed all accounting functions for a multi-million dollar charitable foundation
  • completed the books to trial balance, provided all reports to the Board of Directors and handled all aspects of the annual external audit
  • prepared annual operating budget
  • acted as network supervisor for a 17-user Windows 2000 network including all training
  • maintained the integrity of the donor base of 35,000 names
  • prepared bi-weekly payroll including all source deductions and remittance forms

SYSTEMS COORDINATOR
Performed many of the duties above as well as:
  • completely assembled 10 computers and installed a 10-user Novell network
  • developed the Foundation's presence on the Internet becoming the first hospital foundation in Canada to take donations over the Internet
  • designed and created artwork for newsletters, invitations, posters and T-shirts
  • designed and created direct mail campaigns including artwork and text
  • handled all receipting (over 200,000 receipts annually)
  • oversaw volunteers
  • created a custom programmed application to handle scheduling of over 1,500 volunteers
  • created a custom programmed order/inventory control application for the annual T-shirt sale (over $180,000 in annual sales)

OFFICE MANAGER
  • developed a custom written order entry system to handle over 300 clients and over 1,000 products
  • handled all aspects of inventory control for over 1,000 products
  • developed a computerized inventory control system tied to the order entry system to automate stock reordering

GAS BAR MANAGER
  • all accounting as per PETROCAN specifications
  • developed a custom written computerized accounting system to PETROCAN specifications
  • created and developed all advertising for garage
  • handled hiring for the gas bar

JEWELLERY STORE MANAGER
  • managed several stores for a 30 store chain
  • consistently one of the top 10 sales people in the chain
  • implemented and tested a diamond ring special order program which became the top seller in the chain
  • created a computerized diamond ring ticket printer/database program which provided immediate access of information regarding stone size, quality, etc. for the salespeople
  • handled scheduling, hiring and firing of staff
  • participated in marketing/buying meetings
